Configure the Salesforce connector

The first step to importing Salesforce data is to connect your Keatext and Salesforce accounts by installing the Keatext connector in the Salesforce AppExchange. The connector’s only purpose is to give Keatext access to Salesforce and to configure the synchronization of your data. Text analysis features are not available in the connector app itself.

You'll need administrative privileges on both Keatext and Salesforce to do this.

  1. Click your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. Click Connect to Salesforce.
  3. Skip to the next section if the connection status is active
  4. Copy your Salesforce key.
  5. Click Download connector and install the connector (see Install a Package for details).
  6. In the list of installed packages, find the one called Sift Connector and click Configure.
  7. Paste your key in the Authentication Key field.
  8. At the bottom of the page, click Save

Congrats! Keatext is now connected to Salesforce. Let's move on to configuring the connector.

Advanced configuration options

Syncing frequency

Determines how often your data is “pushed” to Keatext. By default, datasets that use Salesforce data are updated automatically whenever there's a synchronization.

Object and field selection

Salesforce objects have fields. For example, Account objects have an Account Name, Account Number, etc. You get to decide which objects and fields can be imported to Keatext. These objects and fields will be available when you create a dataset, but once again you’ll be able to pick the ones that should be imported for that specific dataset.

Syncing an object

  1. In the left table, select an object.
  2. Set a starting date in the Starting from date field (optional).
  3. In the right table, select the fields you want to sync.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Save

Make sure that fields containing a date all have the type DATETIME. Keatext will be able to process those dates and allow you to filter your records by date or use a time visualization.

Unsyncing an object

  1. Select the checkbox Show only synced objects.
  2. In the left table, select an object you want to unsync.
  3. In the right table, unselect all fields.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Save
